iOS 18: Uncovering the Secrets of Apple’s Next Masterpiece

Apples New update on 1OS 18

Next year, Apple is going to release iOS 18, which is going to be a huge update. Which says that Apple’s next iOS update won’t come out for another seven months. But, there are some reports about what features will be added.

iOS 18 might be Apple’s next big release, which is good news. This is different from the other software changes we’ve seen recently. The article below has everything you need to know about iOS 18 to stay up to date on the latest rumors, features that are likely to come out, and more.

IOS 18 Features:

Fewer bugs

According to the reports from bloomberg, Apple has big plans for its next iOS updates. The new iOS 17 has some great features, such as NameDrop, Contact Posters, and more. Though it’s not a big change, it’s like polishing its features with some new capabilities.

It’s interesting that this won’t be the case with iOS 18. Mark Gurman (Chief Correspondent For Bloomberg News) said that the iOS 18 update might be “even more critical than usual,” and Apple is being extra careful with the iOS 2024 update.

He also said that the iPhone 16 series might not be as interesting as the iPhone 15 series, which has a new titanium frame and a powerful A17 Pro engine for the Pro models and a 48MP main camera for the regular models.

Moving on, iOS 18 is likely to have fewer bugs and other problems than iOS 17. This month, Mark Gurman said that Apple had stopped working on its 2024 software changes to make sure there were no glitches or bugs in the code.

This is a very unusual move by Apple. In this case, it seems like Apple is being extra careful with bugs and other problems. Because of this, next year we could hope to see a software update that is better finished and has fewer bugs.

Updated Siri:

Updated siri

It’s still way too early to talk about iOS 18 features, but early reports say that AI will play a big part in the next-generation iOS update. According to Mark Gurman’s report, iOS 18 will have generative AI technology, which became very famous when OpenAI released ChatGPT last year.

Earlier this year, Google and Microsoft also released AI that do similar things. Since then, many other companies have entered this market. Adding generative AI should “make it easier for Siri and the Messages app to answer questions and finish sentences on their own.” With iOS 18, which will be released next year, this function should be available for the first time.

The Information also alleged that Apple aims to integrate massive language models into Siri for more powerful interaction with the Shortcuts app to automate difficult activities.

What’s more interesting is that Apple believes its most advanced language model, Ajax GPT, may be better than OpenAI’s GPT 3.5.

RCS Messaging

Apple said this month that starting next year, iPhones will be able to handle RCS messaging. RCS Messaging on iPhone might be a part of iOS 18 by this time. The RCS texting standard should make it easy for iPhone and Android users to talk to each other. It’s important to note that Apple isn’t switching iPhone users from iMessage to RCS texting. Instead, they will both work together on iPhones so that the experience is smooth. And iMessage will continue to be the main way that iPhone users talk to each other. Number of ways people can text between iPhone and android:

  • Read receipts
  • Audio messages
  • Typing indicators
  • HD photos & video
  • Sharing location
  • Messaging using Wi-Fi

Release Date

Apple’s history of timing iOS updates makes iOS 18’s release date predictable. AT its annual World Wide Developer Conference in early June, the corporation previews important software improvements. After Developer Beta, Public Beta lasts a few weeks before the finished version arrives in September with new iPhones. Therefore, iOS 18 should be revealed during Apple’s WWDC 2024 event in June and could be released in September with the iPhone 16 series.

Apple delayed iOS 18 work for a week, which had no impact on Apple’s typical release timelines. As a result, there will be no delay in the delivery of iOS 18.

Which iPhones Will Get iOS 18?

There isn’t an official word regarding iOS 18 compatible devices as of now. Looking at iOS 17, we can see that Apple stopped supporting the 2017-released iPhone 8 devices. That is consistent with Apple’s practice of updating the software on its iPhones every five years or so.

If Apple maintains the 5-year span, they will need to support iOS 18 on every iPhone released from 2019 onwards. As a result, the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max—which will turn five years old in 2024—would be removed off the list.

As a result, the list of iOS 18 supported devices would include the iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation) as well as every model of the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 15 series.

The iPhone 16 series will naturally come with iOS 18 preinstalled. Unless Apple itself issues a statement—which won’t happen until June of next year—we can’t be certain.
